Looking for an unbelievable, unforgettable lake front vacation experience? A once-in-a-lifetime escape from the ordinary?

Featured in Log Home Living Magazine, The Treehouse is a masterwork of log construction. Ruggedly handsome, beautifully detailed and comfortably furnished, this 5 bedroom lodge is situated 7 miles north of world-famous Cooperstown, New York, The Home of Baseball (and so much more!!) on the highly desirable east shore of Otsego Lake. Elevated from the lake, virtually every room has stunning views of the placid waters.

Whether your passion is fishing, canoeing and kayaking, sailing or boating, skiing or tubing (both winter and summer!), or just plain 'ole relaxing, The Treehouse is where you want to do it!

Our lake frontage is both expansive and private and, because it has a western exposure, guests are assured of long summer days filled with sun well into the early evening. And then the magic happens; as the sun slips behind the opposing shoreline's mountainous backdrop, the calm water of Otsego Lake slowly begins its transformation from brilliant blue, to virtually every color of the rainbow until the stars in the dark sky are twinkling reflections on The GlimmerGlass.

Arriving guests at The Treehouse often share a similar observation; "As we descended the driveway, the trees cleared and the lodge came into view, we were awe-struck!"

The Treehouse is nestled in the woods at the end of a ¼ mile driveway; private, quiet and elegantly rustic. Guests drive right to the front door under the huge porte-cochere. Opening the front door reveals a home constructed from massive, hand-peeled Douglas fir logs imported from British Columbia. Cathedral ceilings throughout the home reveal the impressive rafters supporting the roof.

The Main Floor is well designed for family living and entertaining. From the entry, past the hand crafted log stairs and around the 3-story stone fireplace, is the Great Room. A wall of windows and flanking French doors frame spectacular lake views. Leather chairs and comfy sofas provide superb space for friends to gather and chat about their day on the lake. With a completely open floor plan, the Great Room flows into the dining area where a very unusual, 12 foot long, solid slab Redwood dining table comfortably seats 12 dinner guests. The lush property and, of course, Otsego Lake are viewed through a large picture window and another set of French sliders.

The kitchen is fully stocked with all cooking utensils, flatware, mixers, blenders and coffee makers. With a large island and long counters there is plenty of prep space for the chef and the solid maple breakfast bar is a favorite place for game playing of all kinds. Stainless steel appliances and sink, granite counters grace the kitchen.

The Main Floor is also home to the master bedroom. A king bed affords views of the woods and the lake. The master bath has a walk in shower, a 118-year old, refurbished claw foot tub and a custom Adirondack style vanity. The bedroom is air conditioned and also has private exterior access to the deck.

Up the log stairs is a queen bedroom and a bedroom with 2 twin beds. One bedroom faces the lake and the other has pretty views of the wooded surround, and both have doors to an exterior balcony that seems to be suspended in the trees. Both bedrooms are air conditioned. Down the hall and across the floating bridge is the full bathroom for the two bedrooms; it features a pedestal sink and a full size tub and shower.

The Lake Level of The Treehouse has 2 large bedrooms; one showcases a hand made log and twig queen bed with expansive lake views while the second bedroom contains 2 sets of cedar log bunk beds, also with wide lake views. A well-detailed full bathroom serves this floor.

Also located on the Lake Level is the Family Room. Here the kids (and adults) will find a large 72" flat screen television with lots of seating and a foosball table for the competitor in all of us. Twin sets of French doors open onto a 60-foot long bluestone patio providing more than a 180-degree panorama of the lake and hillsides beyond.

Access to the 65-foot long, wrap-around deck is from a number of Main Floor doors including from the kitchen area. A large, custom designed picnic table provides plenty of outdoor dining space as well as another great place for cards and games. The elevated deck is protected by a railing system constructed of cedar logs and expanses of safety glass allowing for uninterrupted lake views. A custom, flared staircase from the deck leads guests to a bluestone walkway, which winds through the yard toward the lake. The path divides, one direction provides access to the Sunset Patio; a hidden bluestone patio right at the edge of the lake. This is without a doubt, our favorite place to be during the early evening as the sun sets. The other path leads to our beautiful and private waterfront and dock. Kayaks are ready for your use. A short paddle away is the mouth of Shadowbrook, a small tributary that can be explored; paddle right under America's oldest covered bridge! Or, beach your craft on the sand at Glimmerglass State Park. Play beach volleyball, hike miles of trails, grab a snack at the grill and take a swim.

Our dock can be used for your boat or one can be rented and delivered right to our home. Otsego Lake is 9 miles long and about ¾ mile wide and has a maximum depth of 160 feet providing for a cold-water fishery. Perch, bass, several kinds of trout, landlocked salmon, even pike are now commonly caught.

When our family began the planning process for the construction of The Treehouse, the main focus was on the "family". Our goal was a casual, rustic style log home that encouraged interaction and discussion amongst our friends and family. The Great Room, for example, has no television in it by design. 14 years of vacationing by our clan and having hosted hundreds of guests, we've yet to hear a complaint. Instead, people actually gather in the room and talk. And read. And thumb through the collection of wooden boat magazines. Sip a glass of wine or stretch out on a couch for a nap.

We love our little slice of paradise on one of America's cleanest lakes and we are delighted to share with families traveling from all around the country. A vacation at The Treehouse is really an experience of lake living, where kids can be turned loose to explore the woods and the shore line, dig for worms and try a little fishing, paddle and swim and laze about. We encourage prospective guests to read through our on-line guest book (found at the bottom of this page) to get feedback from prior guests and their perspectives regarding a stay at The Treehouse.

Call us at 908-304-4666 with questions. We are happy to "talk Cooperstown"!!
