We found the house to be just as described. The deck and stone patio provided great outdoor space and the hot tub was a big hit with our teen! We used the house for our daughter's wedding weekend and so will always have very fond memories of Anna's Retreat. The owner couldn't have been more responsive to our questions and needs - would rent from him again in a heartbeat!
This was our groups (8-10 adults) second trip to Anna’s Retreat (first over Memorial Day) and we had another fabulous time. Our primary purpose was road cycling but we also found time for hiking, golfing and craft beer tasting. We were able to cycle right from Anna’s with beautiful and challenging roads all around. The time spent relaxing in front of the fire, in the hot tub and on the deck was delightful. There are plenty of great restaurants in town but once you settle in it is hard to leave! Bill was great to work with and very timely answering any questions we had.
Perfect for relaxation. Clean with excellent views, comfortable beds, and lots of privacy. Sun room was perfect for morning coffee and meditation. Lower patio with fireplace and hot tub was perfect for nighttime fun. Wild turkeys, deer and hummingbirds during the day and a brilliant starlight sky at night. Fossils galore in the area. We went for baseball but found a nature treasure.
Anna's Retreat is a beautiful home 7 miles from Cooperstown. We stayed there while our son played at Dreams Park. The drive to and from the fields took about 25 minutes but was worth it for the beautiful accommodations and all the amenities and the scenery including Otsego Lake. It helped make a week of baseball feel like a real vacation. A couple of shout outs: - The woodwork in the home was beautiful - Beds were very comfortable and plenty of linens were included - Kitchen was fully stocked with plenty of utensils, pots, pans- even a waffle maker - The side porch was perfect for a quiet breakfast- several times spent watching deer next to the house - The outdoor Jacuzzi was a winner- great after lots of walking and fun way to start and end the day - Lower level bunk beds were a hit with our two ball players post tournament as was the foosball table - Lower level bathroom is delightful- dual shower heads including rainfall- I snuck down there vs. using master shower when I could - Outdoor fire pit was amazing- plenty of smore's and beverages for all - The sunsets were ridiculous - Owner was extremely responsive with our minor needs including light bulbs for ceiling fixtures and questions about Internet If you find yourself in Cooperstown and want to make the most of your stay, I highly recommend you stay at Anna's Retreat.
We stayed in this home for my son's visit to Cooperstown Dream Park. It was about a 22 minute drive to the Dream Park and about a 10 minute drive to the village of Cooperstown. The upstairs shower could use some updating wish it was like the downstairs basement shower. The screened porch and patio where great to relax after a long day at the fields. Overall a nice home and plenty of room. Just beware if you wash any white clothes the water leaves orange stains on the garments. You can not see the lake from the home during the summer months but I'm sure during the winter with all the leaves off the trees it would be a nice view. We went to the state park and it was very nice and the lake was beautiful. It is a 7.00 charge to get into the park. There is a beach with lifeguards for swimming and plenty of places for picnics. This home is super private and quite the climb as your driving up the private drive to get to it. Plenty of privacy!!
We rented this house for our son's 12u Coopertown tournament. We had two families there and everyone loved it. We used the outdoor fireplace at night while some were in the hot tub. It is a 15 minute drive to dream park which was easy. The team also through a team party at Glimmerglass State Park beach which was right down the road. We also had paddleboards and kayaks dropped off before we arrived. Great log vacation home!!!
This house was perfect for our Cooperstown trip. Good location, close to town, Glimmerglass State Park etc.. Lots of space inside, game room downstairs is a plus and outdoor area had lots of room for all to sit and drink coffee or make smores in the fireplace. The kitchen could use a few more pots, a good bigger frying pan would be great. The beds are comfortable. The upstairs bathroom shower could use a little TLC but the big bottom level bathroom is beautiful. Looks newly update. There is no real lake view. The small part you could have seen from the top balcony is not there, due to trees growing, but the wildlife makes up for that and you can see the Hyde Hall Mansion which is lovely. The owner and property manager is easy to work with and goes the extra mile to help you out with anything.
This house is so beautiful the drive up to the house is so breath taking! There are so many shops and so much to do around there the lake is just across the street. The patio is so beautiful the kids loved the fire place lots of memories made here thanks again for letting us enjoy our first time stay in Cooperstown,Ny.
Anna's retreat was very clean and comfortable. The house is extremely private set back into the woods. The bathroom in the basement was amazing...wish the upstairs ones were more up to date like that. Bill and Liz were great to work with...I appreciated that any question I had was answered/responded to immediately. The patio and hot tub were nice to have although, we didn't get much use out of it since our game schedule and the 25 minute drive to Dreams Park kept us from being able to go back to the house during the day. I would love to come back with some friends to hang out and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the house.
My family and I stayed with another family this August while our boys played on a team at Cooperstown Dreams Park. The house was about a 20 minute ride to Dreams Park and was just enough distance away from things but not too far either. The house was in great shape and had a bunch of space. Kids loved the hot tub and foosball table. Bill and Liz were quick to respond to any of our questions and/or our needs. I'd highly recommend Anna's Retreat!
The location was great for someone seeking easy access to downtown Cooperstown but also looking for the peace and quiet of a cabin in the woods. The rooms and common areas were well appointed and the patio and fire pit were incredible for outdoor enjoyment. All in all a great place!
We took a long weekend winter retreat to the house with nine adults. We could have fit at least three more comfortably. The kitchen is well stocked--pots, pans, hand mixer, waffle iron, panini press. The outdoor space is amazing-- we could use the hot tub even though it was ridiculously cold. They provided firewood, which was really nice for both the outdoor fireplace and indoor wood-burning stove. The big dining room table and multiple hang out areas were comfortable and open. Everyone kept remarking about how the house was extremely new and clean. They gave each person two towels--one for bath and one for hottubbin', plus hand towels etc. AND there's a washer drying, so you don't have to bring anything in the way of linens. I'd return in any season-- we had so much fun in the house that we never even left, except to buy more food and drink!
I stayed here for a long weekend with five friends. We were looking for a brief escape from city life and decided on Anna's Retreat. We had a fantastic time! The cabin, outdoor fireplace, and surrounding grounds were beautiful. There was more than enough space for the six of us and we were also pleasantly surprised to find a foosball table in the downstairs area! All-in-all a great stay and we definitely plan on going back in the near future.
Nine of my adult family members booked the cabin for a long weekend while in Cooperstown to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame to celebrate my Dad's 80th birthday. We found the cabin just perfect for our group. The common areas with comfortable furnishings are spacious enough for everyone to visit or share a meal. The sleeping areas provide plenty of private space for everyone to have a sitting area to watch TV or read a book(lots of comfy quilts provided) and having a bath/shower on every floor allowed privacy for everyone. There is a nice outdoor fireplace on the patio that we did not get to use due to rain, but we did enjoy the outdoor hot tub that sits under the deck. The cabin sits back on the property in the woods and feels secluded with pretty views, although it only takes 10 min or so to be in downtown Cooperstown to visit the Hall of Fame or have dinner. We were for there for three nights. We visited the Hall of Fame on one day (could have spent more time, it's very nice with lots to look at), we visited the local shops, a distillery and the Cafe at the Ommegang Brewery on another day. Food was great at the brewery. We had breakfast at the cabin each day but went to the local restaurants for lunch and dinners. We visited Doubleday Cafe, Alex and Ika and Nicolettas Italian Cafe and had very good food everywhere we went. I have rented many times for weekend trips, this place was especially cozy and comfortable for our group.
"Weekend weather was summer like. Your homes (Treehouse and Anna's Retreat) added wonderful settings for our family celebrating the first anniversary of our mom’s passing. We so enjoyed our stay. Kayaking, boating, swimming, jogging, tennis, some of us visiting the hall of fame, watching fantastic sunsets, star gazing, nitely outdoor fires...sharing some of the fun we had…”
My family and I stayed here this past week while my son played at Cooperstown Dreams Park. It was an easy commute to the park and once back at the house, after a full day of baseball, we felt like we were truly on vacation. The setting was peaceful and picturesque. The hot tub and gorgeous stone fireplace were used every night. S'mores!! It was an easy walk to the lake too! The house itself had everything we needed and was in immaculate condition. And the owners...Bill was right there checking in and sending recommendations for the kids. I highly recommend staying here. We will definitely be back! :)
We really enjoyed our stay. The home was beautiful, clean and well stocked. Loved the new patio, fireplace and hot tub! No worries about the power outage...completely out of your control:) Thank you so much for being prompt in all of my communications from the get-go right on down to the power outage. It is rare to get such prompt and courteous customer service these days. I will tell all of my friends that will be attending Cooperstown Dreams Park in the future to contact you regarding your rental homes. Thanks again!
First off, dealing with the owners of this house was great. No hassles at all and quick and easy to both book and pay and get your security deposit back. On top of that, the owners provided my group with both an email address and contact number in case of any problems etc - and they answered our inquires ASAP. What can be said about the house - it is gorgeous. The area itself is beautiful and the pictures do not do justice the house. Once you see it in person you will understand where I am coming from. It was an absolute joy to spend time in the house with my group. There is plenty of space so you will not feel cramped. The kitchen was top notch as well. My group was able to prepare a huge meal consisting of 12 racks of ribs and plenty of vegetables with no problems whatsoever. Do yourself a favor and consider this house if you are in the Cooperstown area - you will not be disappointed. My group will definitely be looking to stay here again for our next trip.
Perched in a clearing in the woods, this rustic house is ideal for a group of friends or a large family looking for a quiet house in the woods with easy access to outdoor activities and all of Cooperstown's activities. The house is located on the north side of the lake. Driving takes 15 minutes to Glimmerglass opera, 21 minutes to downtown Cooperstown, and 7 minutes to Route 20. The house is just a stone's throw away from the Glimmerglass State Park entrance and Hyde Hall. The house accommodates up to 10 people and has a wrap around balcony that faces west- perfect for sunsets! Clean, quiet, and rooms split between three levels, Anna's Retreat is perfect for a relaxing weekend in Cooperstown!
Anna's retreat was perfect fort wife and I to get away before the birth of our first child. So very relaxing just to have coffee on the front porch ( with 2 deer right in front of us) and a brief drive to Cooperstown for dinner at the otesaga. It was too bad we weren't staying longer than a couple nights.
This luxury cabin treat is ideal for relaxing or entertaining all seasons of the year. The home is well-made, spacious yet cozy, quiet, conveniently located, and accommodating to many different moods or interests. Whether you're a fan of Nature and want to fish/swim/hike/bike at the Glimmerglass State Park, or a Fan of Baseball and want to frequent all that Cooperstown has to offer, Anna's Retreat is the ultimate home base to enjoy both worlds. Our family enjoyed s'mores by firepit, hanging out in the gameroom in the split level basement, and reading in the screened in sunroom hearing nothing but birds and the breeze in the trees. Until it's SOLD, we will only want to visit Cooperstown staying at this local gem.
My family and I visited Cooperstown for the very first time last week and we stayed at Anna's Retreat. It was a real Treat! An authentic, but luxurious log home tucked into the woods with a little view of the wonderful Lake Otsgeo and the Hyde Mansion in the park. We were able to walk to the beach at the park and swim in the lake and make use of the pavilion and some of the games. We will definitely recommend to our friends.
Wonderful home, perfect location, delightful views! Our family enjoyed a terrific week in this great home. It was clean and fresh with room for everyone to spread out and relax. The owner was attentive and responsive - we felt welcome and right at home. The deck offers lovely sunset views and plenty of seating for everyone. The inside is spacious and bright with great lake views from the loft. Highly recommend this lovely home!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Anna's Retreat. It was wonderful to wake up to the morning song birds and coffee on the front deck. The sunsets over the mountains and lake were breathtaking. Very relaxing and peaceful seclusion. Bill is just wonderful...second to none and attentive to any need. We'll definitely be back!
Secluded Peaceful Retreat
Anna's Retreat was great...very secluded and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time, particularly the walks by the creek and the beautiful sunsets over the valley and lake. Bill couldn't have been more responsive and accommodating with any questions we had. The on-line rental agreement and payment process and so quick and easy. We will definitely be back!
